Sexual Health

Let’s talk about sex! Oh yes, I said it.

Your introduction to sex was likely not something you had much control over. You may have had an awkward “talk” with your parents as a teenager or maybe the only information you received about sex was from the gym teacher or on the internet…and we all know how accurate that can be.

Your first experience was likely even worse. You may have experienced sexual interactions that felt awkward, embarrassing, or even painful. You felt confused and uncomfortable which made you unable to talk about your experience. You likely also experienced shame and you may have felt as though something was wrong with you. This is likely a similar story that continued to repeat itself with one partner after another of unhealthy cycles and lack of proper communication or space for healing from those negative experiences.

In our culture sex is one of the main topics we are taught to avoid. Growing up we are given little-to-no accurate information about how our bodies work, how to tell what interactions are healthy and unhealthy, and what resources are out there to use when it comes to the topic of sex. Even worse, we are often taught to keep our issues or discontent to ourselves rather than seeking help.

This is where that ends. Together we will create the space and curiosity needed to reflect and grow from any past experiences, while building empowerment and resiliency to better understand and love yourself as a sexual being.
